Land Heritage Coalition Hike — February 25


Join hike leader Bruce Morton on Sunday, February 25, at 1 p.m. to explore Goodwin’s Meadows Property. Meet at Hockanum Elementary School, 191 Main Street, East Hartford. Easy to moderate hiking, depending on snow accumulations. Participants should be agile enough to wear snowshoes if warranted. The length of the hike will be determined by weather and snow conditions. Estimated hike distance, 2 miles. Loop trail south along Connecticut River, east to mid-Keeney Cove, then north along Keeney Cove parallel to Pewterpot Brook and Rivermead Boulevard.

Goodwin Offers Free Tax Preparation Program


Goodwin's Business, Management, and Advanced Manufacturing Department will again host the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Through VITA, IRS-certified volunteers, including Goodwin’s business program students, provide free, basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. Appointments are available on Saturdays from January 27 through April 14 (excluding March 31), from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Business & Manufacturing Center, One Pent Road. Sat, Feb 17, 10 am, meet at Hockanum Park, 324 High St. to explore our Wilson-Carvalho and Hockanum Meadows in the “Wethersfield Triangle.” Dress for weather and ground conditions. Wear an orange vest if you have one.

Riverside Magnet and CTRA Open House


Goodwin College will showcase its Riverside Magnet School (pre-K through grade 5) and Connecticut River Academy magnet high school (grades 9 through 12) with an open house on Saturday, January 20. Families interested in learning more about school choice and how Goodwin magnet schools could be a great fit for their scholar may drop in anytime between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. No registration required.
