Celebrate our Allied Health and Nursing Departments for their caring and dedication at “A Community of Caring” on Wednesday, June 3, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the main lobby and Community Room at One Riverside. The event includes recognition for Goodwin’s healthcare programs; screenings of the feature film “The American Nurse” at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.; great raffles for Big Sky gym membership (Vernon), one-hour massage, gift basket and gift card from Walgreens, and other gifts; and unlimited free popcorn. Representatives will be on hand from Dental Hygiene, Histology, Medical Assisting, Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assisting, Ophthalmic Science, Phlebotomy, and Respiratory Care. SUMMER ADULT CONTINUING ED CLASSES BEGIN JUNE 12



Know an interested senior? Goodwin College has announced its summer 2015 Adult Continuing Education (ACE) offerings. The classes — free of charge to seniors 55 and older — are offered in conjunction with the East Hartford South End Senior Center. All courses are presented in two-part sessions at the Goodwin campus, One Riverside Drive, East Hartford and the Senior Center, 70 Canterbury Street, East Hartford. Writing Your Memoir: Part 1 on Friday, June 12, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Senior Center and Part 2 on Saturday, June 13, 9 to 11 a.m. at Goodwin College. Insects and Disease: Part 1 on Friday, July 10, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Senior Center and Part 2 on Saturday, July 11, 9 to 11 a.m. at Goodwin College. The Tech Savvy Senior: Part 1 on Friday, August 14, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Senior Center and Part 2 on Saturday, August 15, 9 to 11 a.m. at Goodwin College. Bike and Walk to Work Day

East Hartford Nature Walk — Hockanum Meadows

Saturday, June 6, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Explore the Connecticut River Floodplain. Walk along the mighty Connecticut River with Goodwin College environmental studies students. We will observe birds, wildlife, floodplain forest reclaiming farm fields, and invasive species control experiments. The 3-mile walk will include a visit to the “Wethersfield triangle” and Glastonbury’s Keeney Cove, which was left behind by the meandering river.
