NAVS GO 1-2 IN THE 2014 NORTHEAST REGIONAL BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Navigators finished strong to secure a 1-2 record in this years Northeast Regional Basketball Championships, hosted by Boston University on January 24th - 26th.
Due to the team's strong showing in recent tournament play; handily defeating American International College, Southern New Hampshire University, and Assumption College, Goodwin was placed into the very tough Ivy League bracket, alongside Harvard, Dartmouth and Brown.
Starting the round-robin play with a hard-fought seven point defeat to Dartmouth on Friday night, the Navs didn't have much time to lament, as they were back on the court 11 hours later to play Harvard, and their 7'1" center. Tied with 6 minutes left in the game, the Crimson pulled away to victory with a 16-4 run. Exhausted, the men got some well needed rest back at the hotel, and prepared for an afternoon tilt against the Bears from Brown. With a 3:00 PM tip-off, the team crossed the Charles River, from Cambridge into Boston, and prepared to take on their Rhode Island opponent. In a back and forth game, the Navs ultimately emerged the victor, holding on for a 49-43 win, and finishing off tournament play with a 1-2 record.
