Notice of Public Meeting — January 14
Click It or Ticket Campaign Starts November 19
With Thanksgiving upon us, Connecticut’s law enforcement agencies are promoting safe driving for the protection of all motorists. The East Hartford Police Department reminds us to Click It or Ticket. Officers are issuing citations to drivers and passengers who are not using seatbelts. The campaign runs November 19 to 26. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, seat belts saved 14,668 lives in 2016, but if everyone had worn seat belts on every trip that year, 2,456 more lives could have been saved. That’s why participating law enforcement agencies will be taking a no-excuses approach to seat belt law enforcement. In Connecticut, the penalty for a seat belt violation is $92.

Veterans Day Celebration — November 8
Goodwin College student veterans will host a Veterans Day celebration on Thursday, November 8, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the lobby at One Riverside. They will welcome veterans from World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam, Post 9/11, the D.A.V., the VFW, and the American Legion. Employees, students, and the public are encouraged to attend to speak with, and thank, our veteran community. Asking questions about a veteran’s experience and learning about veterans organizations provide opportunities to acknowledge the importance of Veterans Day and our distinguished guests. We must never forget their immense sacrifices for our state and our country. They deserve our everlasting gratitude for the freedoms that we enjoy every day. PUBLIC NOTICE
Goodwin College (is expanding its 2.5-mile network of trails, which provide an ideal opportunity for East Hartford residents to enjoy peaceful, passive recreation and view fauna and wildlife along the banks of the Connecticut River. Located in an urbanized area with limited open and green spaces, Goodwin plans to expand its network of trails known as the South Meadows in East Hartford, Glastonbury, and Wethersfield. Goodwin is hosting a community meeting on Oct. 4, 2018, at 5 p.m. in the River Room, 195 Riverside Drive, East Hartford. All are invited to attend and learn more about the trails.
The Goodwin trails extend from the Pavilion next to the outdoor learning lab south along the banks of the Connecticut River. Parts of the trails are paved. The Phase IV project would extend the paved portion to the Wethersfield line, add a handicapped accessible picnic area, and upgrade fencing along the access road leading to the trails. The trails are located off South Meadow Lane, which is off High Street across from the Early Childhood Learning Center at Hockanum School.
To assist with the planning and construction of the trail, Goodwin is seeking a grant from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Recreational Trails Program. At this meeting, area residents and organizations will have the opportunity to comment on the proposed trail.
For information please call Chris Blake at 860-727-6950.
